Your comment, based on your observation, seems to fit a terrible stereotype all too well for me. I have lived in many big cities before: San Francisco, Seattle, Minneapolis and others. Perhaps it is the nature of the kind of employment available here, but the professional community is very small, and many of the professionals I have met are here sporadically for business and don't live here. This would be fine if they were still smart, funny and saw dating as an opportunity to meet a great gal. There are cool singles in the city, you just need to know where to find 'em.
Why don't you see the same "opportunity" in dating or is it a one sided thing? The university has 20-somethings there, too, and some single staff and professors in the 30 ranges.
